Born on June 27, 1910, into the eminent Deshprabhu family of Pernem, Shriram Balkrishna Deshprabhu was perhaps among the first few students who went to the US during the earlier years of the last century. He was sent by the Tatas for higher education in the discipline of anatomical drawing. The Tatas were planning to raise a cancer hospital in Bombay (The first in Asia).

i am his daughter in law and probably the most fortunate of all his relations to have got the opportunity to look after him in his old age. my dear father -in -law was a great man , you don’t easily come across people like him.All i can say is that i was lucky to have been by his side when he breathed his last.
