Six Greater Toronto buildings will be recognized by the Governor-General this week at a ceremony honouring “outstanding achievement” in recent Canadian architecture.
OTTAWA, ONTARIO, Jan 29, 2013 His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will present the Governor General’s Medals in Architecture during a ceremony at Rideau Hall, on Friday, February 1, 2013, at 2:00 p.m.
The Governor General’s Medals in Architecture recognize outstanding achievement in recently built projects by Canadian architects. This program, created by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC), contributes to the development of the discipline and practice of architecture, and increases public awareness of architecture as a vital cultural force in Canadian society. These awards are administered jointly by Architecture Canada – RAIC and the Canada Council for the Arts, which is responsible for the adjudication process and contributes to the publication highlighting the medal winners.
