The health care picture in Kenya is improving, but there’s still work | Calgary Herald

The Aga Khan University Nairobi Campus and Hospital is a gleaming example of how health care in Kenya is improving.

By Monica Zurowski: On my first full day in Kenya. I’m touring the Aga Khan University Nairobi Campus and Hospital, along with members of the Calgary-based Awali group.

I quickly learn that if you think there are too few doctors working in the Canadian health care system, you’d be shocked to hear how rich in medical resources we are compared to some developing nations. While Canada has 19 to 20 doctors for every 10,000 people, that number in Kenya is only 1.4. The African nation faces other health problems, too:
