This will be a good opportunity for you to see what you may have missed.

To continue from our last conversation regarding the feedback we received from all the well wishers, supporters and visitors of the blog.

Some of you asked how to effectively search old postings and/or any particular post.

There are various ways you can search the blog:

Use the Search box at the top right hand corner of the blog.  Type any keyword and the blog will produce the results accordingly.

Use the Category drop down menu (located at the right hand panel of the blog) to look for specific items.  All of our published posts have been categorized appropriately.

Use Google’s Advanced Search: just specify the blog address [http://ismailimail.wordpress.com] in the field where it says “Search within a site or domain” and type any keywords you may be looking for.  Google also provides a separate blog search service which is very efficient [http://blogsearch.google.com/].

Use Calendar widget (available at the side panel of the blog) if you know the estimated day/year of the posted story you may be looking for.  Clicking on the day or month will result in the appropriate posted stories.

Consequently, you can also use Archive drop-down menu.

We have recently added Most Used categories - as live feeds - at the right hand side panel of the blog. Categories like, Interviews and Speeches, Ismaili Muslims in the News, etc, can come handy if you’re looking for anything specific which may not be visible on the front page.  Please note that we have also added the feed from official website of the Ismaili Muslim community, another regional blog, translation tools, and few other services.  We will cover this topic later in detail.

Another easiest way to search is to just scroll-down the front page and then keep on clicking Older Posts link at the bottom. You can pretty much find everything ever posted, by browsing the blog one page after another.

It is important to note that the format of the blog will always be different from the regular web sites, i.e, the latest post will always show up at the top in chronological order, unless modified on purpose.

If you are a subscriber to our blog via email or RSS feeds, then you can also search contents in your inbox or feed reader programs.

Above is just a simple overview of searching from layman’s perspective.  Feel free to add as a comment, any other tips or tricks you know.

You provided recommendations and questions which we think requires further dialog. Based on the feedback we have received, we will make series of posts in coming weeks explaining the dynamics of the blog and various other critical aspect of information management. In particular, and within the context of this blog, we would like to talk about search, subscription, Internet etiquette, the demand for information, the supply, and how to effectively manage the flow of information in our everyday life. We would like to open this thread up with comments and further observations, so please feel free to chime in.

The leading story of the month was His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan’s birthday. Conservative and Democratic MPs of Canada sent their birthday greetings to the Imam. Institute of Ismaili Studies announced a translation of book ‘A Short History of the Ismailis’ into Gujarati language. Documentary on Ismailis and the Aga Khan: An Islamic Conscience, was made available to be purchased online. We also met various accomplished Ismaili Muslims this month.

The leading story of the month was His Highness the Aga Khan visiting Mozambique, Madagascar and Germany during his Golden Jubilee celebration year. We also learned about the independent documentary on His Highness the Aga Khan and Ismaili Muslim Community. Aga Khan Music Initiative in Central Asia’s show carried their exhibition to various cities in United States, and a very popular A Mystical Journey Show took place in various Canadian cities. Plus there are many more critical news which requires a second look.

The Enabling Environment Conference: More than 300 people attended the conference, organized jointly by the office of Afghanistan’s President, Hamid Karzai, and His Highness the Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of the Shia Ismaili Muslims and the Chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).

Roshan Telecom (AKFED company) announced the launch of Afghanistan’s first Telemedicine project: Roshan, Cisco, Aga Khan University Hospital and the French Medical Institute for Children Team up to Expand Healthcare Access by Linking Afghan Hospitals to International Medical Institutions.

World Partnership Walk took place in Canada. It was a largest event of this kind in Canada.

Aga Khan University organized World No Tobacco Day. They also screened Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth to raise awareness of the environment.

From the Arts and Culture scene, we saw a launch of Spirit and Life Exhibition in London.

In the Education field, Princess Zahra inaugurated New Diamond Jubilee High School.

His Highness the Aga Khan gave speech at the Graduation Ceremony of the Masters of Public Affairs (MPA) Programme at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po)
