DOHA: Renowned Qatari architect Ibrahim Jaidah has urged the younger generation to develop and expose modern Islamic art, which he claims is very interesting and challenging.
“I think Islamic art needs to be developed, specially the younger generation needed to explore into modern Islamic art. There is an attempt in painting but not in term of interior design and architecture,” Ibrahim Jaidah, Managing Director, Arab Engineering Bureau told The Peninsula.
“We need a strong movement like a cultural movement to carry out the awareness,” he added.
Speaking about his awards Jaidah said: “It’s quite important and encouraging, which led me to concentrate on challenges.” He had been nominated for the high profile Aga Khan award thrice. The Qatar National was awarded with the Aga Khan in 1980.
