Naz Rayani earns Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce’s lifetime award

The Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce will present a lifetime achievement award to Dr. Nazmudin (Naz) Rayani when it hands out its annual awards in May.

Rayani is being recognized as both a business leader and humanitarian for his work to end global poverty through the World Partnership Walk, said Al Hasham, vice-chair of the chamber. “The award finalists for all the categories should be proud of their achievement as they stand alongside Naz in being congratulated this year,” said Hasham.

“I am fortunate to have found a home in Greater Victoria, and to have received so much support from the community. I also want to acknowledge our loyal employees at Heart Pharmacy — they make me proud every day,” said Rayani.

Rayani has worked tirelessly to help raise funds to support third world economic development programs through the Aga Khan Foundation Canada and in 2006, was appointed to the Order of Canada in recognition of this lifetime commitment to charitable causes and leadership in philanthropy.

Previous winners of the award include Keith Dagg and Bob Skene.

Rayani will be honoured along with winners in 13 categories at the chamber’s awards gala May 14 at the Empress Hotel.

“The chamber recognizes the outstanding achievement of many individuals and businesses in Greater Victoria each year. Once again, this year’s finalists represent a group of businesses that have demonstrated their ability to go above and beyond in order to make their business successful and also contribute to the vitality of our community,” said chairman Frank Bourree.
