Salima Syerah Virani is a lawyer, business coach, and entrepreneur. She was born and raised in India and later attended law school in London, England. After arriving in Canada, Salima went back to school to upgrade her credentials. Following her call to the Ontario Bar, she specialized as a commercial transactions lawyer at a large national law firm. In a fearless move, she acquired MyBindi.com and walked away from a thriving Bay Street law practice to nurture her passion for South Asian arts, entertainment, and lifestyle. Salima transformed MyBindi.com from a simple website into a household brand and a go-to destination for all things South Asian.
Her journey and success as an entrepreneur led her to establish the Toronto Chapter of the Network of Indian Professionals in 2009, a non-profit organization committed to the advancement of South Asians, and she served as the chapter’s president until 2011. In 2010, Salima launched Zentrepreneur Inc. to coach and train other entrepreneurs. She is a regular speaker on business topics and is often invited to panels and quoted by media on topics relating to small business and women in leadership.
She was recently nominated by Women’s Post as one of Canada’s Top Women to Watch in 2013. In February 2013, Salima launched Zen Campus, a coworking space and training facility dedicated to providing entrepreneurs and small business owners an environment where they can come together and work and gain new skills. Salima continues her law practice as founder and managing partner at Blue Letter Law, a full service law firm in Toronto.
