Join the Social Media Campaign for His Highness the Aga Khan's Diamond Jubilee

11 July 2017 marks the 60-year anniversary of His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan becoming the Imam of the Shi’a Imami Ismaili Muslims.

The past 60 years have been filled with a vast number of accomplishments, from building new universities and state-of-the-art hospitals in remote areas of the developing world, to promoting urban renewal and civil society through the restoration of monuments and the creation of green space, to building international institutions that promote peace and tolerance, such as the Global Centre for Pluralism. Many of these institutions were created through the agencies of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), which was founded by His Highness to improve the quality of human life by bringing a combination of economic, social and cultural development to a given area. The AKDN’s first agency, the Aga Khan Foundation, was created over 50 years ago, but now the various agencies of the AKDN operate in over 30 countries across South Asia, Central Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and North America.
