Shafik Ruda is the federal Liberal candidate for Edmonton East, where he has lived for the past twenty three years. He and his wife Zahra are young, energetic professionals. They have three children as well as three cats.
Shafik graduated from the University of Alberta with a B.Sc. majoring in math and computing science. He currently works as a senior IT Management Consultant.
Shafik strongly believes in giving back to the community. On the local front, he has produced and directed four major dance and drama productions from which all proceeds were donated to benefit charities such as the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Sorrentino’s Compassion House and the Edmonton Humane Society. During each of these events, Shafik volunteered hundreds of hours of his time and inspired at least a hundred volunteers to do the same. Closer to home, Shafik has coached minor hockey and soccer, and currently sits on the parent council at his children’s school.

Why is it that I need to google who is running for the MP position in the next election? I haven’t even seen a single sign of life from you. Although I generally give the liberals my support, why should I vote blindly for you? I know way more than I want to know about your conservative competetor and yet I have never even heard your name mentoned.
This lack of visibility will not win you the seat at parliment.
